Preliminary 1/4 mile testing has resulted in a 10.04, at 137+ mph run, w/ only 10 pounds of boost.
Once we work out a few bugs, we can start tuning the motors fuel curve, and start pumping up the boost!
The car will be in the 9's in no time!, with the 8's just around the corner!
This is the Chevy 292 powerplant w/ turbo setup, and Hybrid head. The head is 2 S.B. Chevy V-8 heads,
w/ 1 cylinder cut off each, and then welded back together to make an inline 6 cyl. head.
The engine uses a mechanical fuel injection system running on alcohol.
The Studebacker is a tube chassis car, w/ a full steel body. The only fiberglass on the car is the hood.
The big rear wing, and parachute will be for the low 8 second passes we are shooting for.
Even with only 10 pounds of boost, we have no problem smoking up the tires. Once we get a few bugs taken care of, we can start
pumping up the boost, eventually to 30+ lbs, to reach the 8's!
With the 3.50:1 rear gears, and the 2 speed powerglide transmission, the car leaves nice and smooth,
and straight as an arrow.
